Some customers may choose to take vitamin D3 potency+ along with their calcium supplement, since vitamin D3 is known to support calcium absorption in the body.*

We carefully built in three high-quality organic oils (organic avocado, flaxseed, and extra virgin olive oils) to support the bioavailability of our hero ingredient (organic, algal vitamin D3) in the body. Our unique trio of organic, virgin oils provide over 400 mg of healthy unsaturated fatty acids in each gelcap. These unsaturated fats include healthy omega-3 and omega-9 fatty acids, which deliver the added bonus of their intrinsic antioxidant properties known to support a healthy inflammatory response, as well as cardiometabolic and overall health.*

1. Premium ingredients: We chose to use premium vitamin D3. It’s from a sustainable algal source. It’s vegan and certified organic. Organic vitamin D3 is rare. Organic, sustainably sourced algal vitamin D3 is extremely rare. We also chose 3 premium, organic oils (organic flaxseed, avocado, and extra virgin olive oils) to complement this premium vitamin D3.

2. Potency: mbg vitamin D3 potency+ was specifically designed as a daily essential for life, formulated with a clinically effective dose (5,000 IU) in most adults. Many vitamin D products on the market contain sub-efficacious doses.

Unfortunately many refillable bags or containers do not provide the same protection and stability for our ingredients as our amber glass (bottles, jars) and PET bags achieve. What's more, the product-specific manufacturing information (i.e., specific identifiers such as the lot and date) stamped on each product would be lost when the customer discards the refill packaging, as is customary. That lost information would not enable us to comply with a variety of very important FDA regulations specific to dietary supplements (e.g., cGMPs, adverse event reporting, etc.), and regulatory compliance is something that mindbodygreen respects and prioritizes. From an additional safety standpoint, there are also microbial contamination concerns with refillable vessels over time. No, because the vitamin D3 potency+ gelcap is gelatin, this supplement is not vegan. The four active ingredients are vegan (i.e., the organic, algal vitamin D3 and three organic oils), but their gelatin casing ultimately means the final product is not technically vegan.
