Another reason people incorporate focus+ into their morning routine or first half of the day is because focus+ provides 150 mg of plant-origin instant and sustained-release caffeine (from organic whole coffee fruit extract and green coffee beans) in each serving. By way of comparison, a cup of coffee delivers about 100 mg of caffeine. But unlike a cup of coffee, our sustained-release caffeine has prolonged, energizing benefits in the body, which is great (except when you’re trying to fall asleep!) Thus, for folks who don’t metabolize caffeine rapidly (i.e., caffeine tends to affect you more strongly and might keep you wired at night if you take it too late in the day), we strongly recommend you take focus+ in the morning or by noon latest. Try it out and optimize the timing for you and your needs! Taking focus+ in the evening would not be recommended for most, but may be targeted for very specific situations (e.g., for those who work the night shift).*

Each serving (1 capsule) of focus+ provides 150 mg of caffeine, sourced from coffee beans and berries. To put this moderate (yet energizing) dose in perspective, 150 mg of caffeine is approximately the amount in 1.5 cups (so, around 12 ounces) of coffee. That means you might want to drink ~ 1 less cup of coffee (tea, etc.) each day to balance your caffeine intake.

Because caffeine is energizing, we recommend that most customers take focus+ in the morning. For those who rapidly metabolize caffeine (e.g., you can drink coffee in the afternoon and not have trouble sleeping), you could take focus+ as late as midday, but we do not recommend you take it later than midday. Why? Because focus+ delivers instant-release AND sustained-release caffeine, designed to fuel your entire day. We wouldn't want to get in the way of a good night's rest!

Another wonderful mindbodygreen supplements+ product with caffeine (also 150 mg dose) is metabolism+. While it's totally safe to take focus+ and metabolism+ products together daily, at 300 mg of caffeine combined, that's the caffeine equivalent of about 3 cups of coffee (about 24 ounces). For that reason, you would want to reduce your other caffeine inputs (think: coffee, tea, etc.) to not overdo it!

Our focus+ supplement is not designed to replace a person’s coffee intake, but it could if that’s their personal goal or reason for taking the product.
