POSTBIOTICS
This new generation of active ingredients nurtures the microbiome and skin by supplying it with peptides and short-chain fatty acids. Our special biotech postbiotic comes from Lactobacillus, the “educational” bacteria that teaches the skin to protect itself, encourages more vibrant appearance, and is appropriate for sensitive skin. It has been shown to soothe inflammation, regulate microcirculation, and activate the skin’s immune system.
PREBIOTICS
Ours come from a unique microalgae technology from chlorella vulgaris extract that has a broad-spectrum effect. In in vitro studies, this extract has been shown to promote S. epidermis (the main beneficial skin microbiome species) and balance detrimental species like M. furfur and S. aureus. Thanks to this ability to nurture a healthy biome, it’s been shown to have a calming effect on the skin as it prevents inflammation triggered by an unbalanced microbiome.
ALOE VERA
A natural humectant, this hydrating botanical comes with several skin care benefits thanks to over 75 different active compounds, including vitamins, minerals, sugars, enzymes, and amino acids. It helps fade dark spots, soothes inflammation, and keeps skin supple. The juice aids in the fast absorption of the cream. Our aloe is decolorized and certified organic.
SHEA BUTTER
Shea butter is made from the fat extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree, a plant native to West Africa. Rich in triglycerides, fatty acids, and vitamins, shea butter is an excellent emollient and can help skin reduce moisture loss. It also gives this hand cream its decadent, soft texture.
MORINGA SEED OIL
Derived from the moringa oleifera tree indigenous to the Himalayan mountains in Northern India, it is rich in antioxidants, monounsaturated fatty acids, and oleic acids that promote a strong skin barrier. The antioxidants have skin-smoothing and brightening properties, too.
COENZYME Q10
All antioxidants protect skin against free radicals, but this unique option also protects against lipid peroxidation, a process by which free radicals damage skin cell membranes. To top it off, CoQ10 can also regenerate other antioxidants.
SQUALENE Your skin naturally produces this oil as a vital part of its sebum—sebum protects skin and keeps you hydrated—and you can help improve your skin barrier function by applying it topically. In this formula, we use non-hydrolyzed squalene form, which is extracted from olives. This form of the ingredient is great for extra-dry patches of skin such as the hands and body.
OAT OIL Oat extracts are popular additions for sensitive-skin formulas, as they are highly soothing and anti-inflammatory. Oat oil is derived from the stems and leaves of the Avena sativa plant, which is known for its highly nutritious seeds. It’s high in linoleic acid, an omega-6 fatty acid that helps regulate and promote healthy functioning of the skin barrier. Studies also suggest that oat oil has been known to boost ceramide levels in the skin, which help to keep skin cells together.
WATERMELON, APPLE, AND LENTIL EXTRACTS These fruit extracts contain antioxidants to boost this cream’s free-radical-fighting power and protective benefits. Together, they create a complex that delivers a wide range of skin-supporting nutrients and benefits like citrulline and polysaccharides for water retention, vitamin B5 to smooth skin, and trisaccharides to enhance epidermal barrier function.

What we leave out is just as important as what we add in
Got Questions?
When should I use the hand cream?
Our hand cream can be used at any point in the day, multiple times a day if needed. We do recommend applying it after washing your hands, on slightly damp skin, in order to trap in the water and keep your skin optimally hydrated. If you do not apply a body product on the skin after washing, the water will evaporate—leading the skin to become dehydrated.
Is it appropriate for sensitive skin?
The ingredients we chose for our formulas are known to be well tolerated by most individuals—as well as including many ingredients that are commonly used to soothe reactive skin. But everyone has sensitivities unique to their skin. So we encourage potential buyers to evaluate the ingredient list prior to purchasing to make sure that they are not personally reactive to any botanical. At this time there is no legal definition or regulation of “hypoallergenic,” “sensitive skin safe,” or “allergen-free.”: That means you must be diligent about reading the product label to ensure you don’t come into contact with your particular allergens.
How does the preservative system set new standards?
In our formulas, we use a natural, patented preservative system known as Geogard Ultra®. It is a synergistic blend of gluconolactone and sodium benzoate that not only has broad spectrum preservation efficacy, but can actually contribute to skin hydration. Most organic preservation acids are too weak on their own and require a co-preservative. In this case, gluconolactone acts as a booster for sodium benzoate by time-releasing gluconic acid so it can be more effective for longer periods of time. The blend is in compliance with ECOCERT/COSMOS, NATRUE and the Soil Association, organizations that have some of the highest standards in the EU.
Preservatives get a bad name in the beauty space. And while you’re in your right to be wary of certain preservatives (like those with evidence of endocrine disrupting properties), preservatives are a needed component of any water-based formula: Water is a breeding ground for bad bacteria. See, we believe that products should be free from all harmful ingredients—and we consider pathogenic bacteria to be part of that list.
Why don’t you include probiotics in the formula?
We are firm believers in biotic ingredients for both topicals and supplementation: Through research we have seen how highly beneficial these actives can be for overall health. We chose not to include probiotics (and only used pre- and postbiotics) in our personal care collection because mounting evidence shows that most live organisms cannot survive in topical products. This is for two reasons: First, most lotions and creams contain preservative systems, which are shown to kill most types of probiotics. Second, the shelf life and use of topicals is much longer than that of supplements, so by the time the product is finished—we cannot ensure that the probiotics would still be useful. Due to new developments in the biotic space, we decided that the most advanced and effective form to include was postbiotics. Additionally, we decided to add prebiotics to further enhance the microflora and make our formula more robust.
Is there any research to support the key ingredients?
We used innovative, high-tech active ingredients that were rigorously tested by their manufacturers for efficacy and safety. For example, the postbiotic ingredient (as Kalibiome Sensitive) was shown in ex vivo tests to improve epidermis integrity resulting in a more efficient skin barrier function and moisture level increase compared to a placebo. Additionally in In Vitro tests, it was shown to modulate specific interleukins that are involved in inflammation reduction and skin rejuvenation. The prebiotic ingredient (as ALGAKTIV BioSkin®) was shown in tests to revitalize the skin, even outperforming spiderman growth factor (EGF), while aiding in balancing the microbiome and calming the skin.
Additionally the natural botanicals we selected all have robust research supporting their topical use and benefits for the skin. Just a few examples: published and peer-reviewed reviews of aloe vera show that it’s beneficial for skin hydration, inflammation, and tone. Studies show that shea butter can improve barrier function and reduce inflammation. Finally, topical applications of CoQ10 provide antioxidant effects.
What is the stability & shelf life of this product?
We have gone through rigorous stability testing to ensure a shelf life of up to two years. Every single one of our products has gone through testing in the following areas: physical and chemical testing, packaging stability, accelerated aging, and microbial testing. We did not move forward with any formula until it was able to pass all four of these tests.
How do I recycle this product’s packaging?
Please always check with your local curbside recycling program for your ZIP code, and follow their instructions. This will help ensure that the packing is properly taken care of and given a second life.
The shipping container:
- •Our shipping boxes are made from 100% recycled paper and are fully curbside recyclable.
The product packaging:
- • The tube is 46% PCR plastic. When you are finished, cut the tube open to remove excess product—but do not cut the tube in half. After rinsing, group with similar materials to recycle. (Again, we encourage you to see how your local program would like you to sort your items.)
- • The cap is plastic, but is too small to be detected by current recycling equipment. Please discard it in the trash.
And did we mention that our formulas are made in a plant powered by 100% wind energy?
